The Albanian Party for Justice and European Integration (Partia për Drejtësi dhe Integrim), would like underlining that for the first time in the Albanian political history, one delegation of an Albanian political Party reached to express the long 62 years  preoccupation of Chamis population in the European Parliament.

For the first time, the representatives of European Parliament received directly the voice and the democratic requests of the Chamis population through a Political Party which has in their basic political battle the democratic solution of this historic impasse of Cameria.

The Albanian Party for Justice and European Integration (PDI), informing that its delegation has been independent from the Permanent Delegation of the Albanian Parliament in the European Parliament, would like to inform also, that on 24 October  meet Mrs. Doris Pack, the Chairwoman of European Parliamentary Delegation for South-Eastern Europe.

The meeting there was a successful one and in the end of that we could delivered the dossier about the Chamis issue, which was composed by some analysis made by international experts about the history and about the democratic solution’s ways of this long-forgotten  issue, to Mrs. Doris Pack.

On 25 October, Mrs. Doris Pack had a “tete a tete” meeting with the Chairman of PDI, Mr. Tahir Muhedini, when beyond other things Mrs. Pack promised to do the possible for influencing that the Chamis population have the possibility to visit their homeland and also respect the memory of their forerunners’ graves in Greece.

After that, Mrs. Pack promised to Chairman of PDI Mr. Muhedini also that the Cham issue will be discussed at the 13th round of Parliamentary session about the Agreement of Associations and Stabilization of Albania with the European Parliament, promising that she will communicate about this issue even with the Greek Euro deputies of the Parliament.

The delegation of PDI has meet also the euro deputy Marco Pannella , the historic leader of the Italian Radical Party, the euro deputy Mr. Marco Cappato, a Chairman of the Italian Radical Party, who together with other members of Democratic Liberal Groups of European Parliament, promised to look for the possibility of proposing a Parliamentary Resolution by which they would demand by the emergent  terms the opening of dialogue between Athens and Tirana with the participation of the representatives of  the Chamis population and in the presence of the international mediations.

The delegation of PDI has meet also Honorable Graham  Watson  the Chairman of the Democratic Liberal Group of the European Parliament (Grande Britannia) and Baroness Sara Ludford, member  of the Democratic Liberal Group of the European Parliament also member of the Chamber of Lords in London.

Baroness Ludford after being informed that PDI had a successful correspondence with European Commission, promised to make a written request for the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Olli Rehn in order to ask what the European Commission has planed to do in relation with Chamis issue and respective solution.

The delegation has meet also the Hungarian Euro deputy Mr. Zsolt Becsey, Vice Chairman of Minority Commission in the European Parliament, Mrs. Gisela Kallenbach German euro deputy, member of Green Group and Mr. Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, German Euro deputy with Greek origin, who promised to do the possible in the democratic solution of Chamis population requests.

For concluding we wish to declare that it is the first important political step in the difficult path of fulfilling the will of Chamis forerunners.
