At the kind attention of Olli Rehn,

Date: 18 July 2006

Dear Commissioner of the European Commission for Enlargement of Europe,

We would like, first of all, to thank you very much for the response to our letters and preoccupation and declare at the same time that we wish our correspondences take practical steps and may be the arranging of a meeting could necessary to clarify respective positions.

But, we are also writing to you today for informing that on 25 June 2006 the Patriotic and Political Association Çamëria (SH.A.P.Ç)) supported by our Party for Justice and European Integration (PDI, Partia për Drejtësi dhe Integrim) on remembering of the 27 of June, which marks the day of the ethnic cleansing against the innocent Albanian population of Çamëria, organised a peaceful marching on Greek – Albanian borders with the Çamëria region.

The itinerary of the marching on contrary way did follow the same trip which has done the Albanians Çamis refugees while escaping from Greek terror and mass killings 62 years ago.
In effect, it started from south Albanian city of Saranda towards Albanian village of Kllogjer, where there is placed a massive grave of Çamis victims and where the participants of the marching settled flowers in respect of the innocent victims who mostly were their parents or relatives. .
Marching continued even towards Greek border for symbolizing the missing possibility to set also flowers in respect of the other Çami victims of Greek genocide, whose graves there are placed in Greek territory where we don’t have access to get inn.

The participants with Albanian, English and Greek slogans and banderols (there is a photo gallery of those activities on: www.pdi-al.com/fotogaleri.html ) did arrive to Greek borders of Qafebote point and there, in democratic and peaceful means maintained the speeches in front of more than 12.000 people from most of Albanians cities where Çamis people were settled since 1945.

We would like to underline that the aim of this organizing there was concentrated on the possibility to make clear to the national and international opinion that the passed history cannot be forgotten, but must be seen with emancipated European view.

And on the other hand in effect Albanian and Greek mass media did give a very important space to the event, but the Albanian and Greek Governments at the best case did ignore it.

A Greek spokesperson after there was asked by Greek journalists, did confirm that according to his Government there no Çamis case and no Çamis properties in Greece, while Albanian Government just stated no declaration!

That means that the today Greek Government doest not reflect on the violation and terror exerted against the Albanian population of Çamëria by the era criminal bands of the then Greek theocratic chauvinism, which forced the Çamëria Albanians to flee from their ancient lands and to find refuge in the Republic of Albania where they live hitherto!

Dear Commissioner of European Commission,

We would like to let you know that Albanian Parliament has recognised the Greek genocide against innocent Çamis population by the approved Law nr: 7839 on the 30.06 1994 and the then President of the Republic of Albania has confirmed it by the Law Decree Nr: 885 on 12. 07.1994

Asking You to have the chance to issue an official stand on the case, we would like to inform You that we, as the Albanian Party for Justice and European Integration (PDI) after being informed that Greek Government, in relation with respecting of the basic human rights of Çamis population, has this issue as unexcited “Çamis case”, underlined publicly that there is no “Çamis case” even for us, but there are some basic human rights violated and ignored by a country which is a member with full rights and duties to the European Union.

Later our Albanian political party by a long meeting of its Presidency, decided to declare and issue a press release by which the Party for Justice and European Integration, in difference with other political institutions, told pubblicly that it believes the basic human rights of Çamis population cannot be respected and find a democratic solution just with bilateral dialogue between Albania and Greece, or between Çamis representatives and Greek Government, but just with the engagement of the due institutions of European Union and Unites States of America.

That sure means, just with international intermediation based to the International Standards of Ethnic Minorities.

Dear Commissioner Olli Rehn,

We were very please to know that Brussels MEPs, acting on a French initiative have demanded that Ankara recognises the genocide of Armenians 1915-1918 as a "prerequisite for accession to the European Union."

But, we would like to inform you that even the Greek strategy against Çamis population has started by the same years, and seeing also that the European Commission's translation database, IATE, defines genocide as "harmful acts...committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group", we would like to demand you to take the needed public steps in relation with Greek Genocide against innocents and undefended Albanian Çamis people during 1944 - 1945.

According to our modest opinion it would show to the global political developments that the European Commission do not have political prejudice in front of nationalities, religions or states, but just respect of the universal principals on the Basic Human Rights.

Excellence,

Our personal experience and of other Çamis people in Çamëria into Greek territory are very unbelievable.
Me, Amos Dojaka, during November 2005 while having a chance to visit Çamëria region, I tried to visit the house of Mr. Tahir Muhedini in Paramithia and when I asked to an old man if he knew where it was placed? The old man asking to me if it was treated for Mr. Sali Efendiu house, (Tahir’s grand father) weeping up demanded me to speak just in Italian and faking as I was Italian, if I wanted to visit that house!

I was really surprised, but I noted there that the Greek terror there was still in force at that region of Çamëria. The old man terrorised as it was living under a regime of dictators, accompanied me to visit that house and speaking with superlatives on Mr. Muhedini’s grand father.
Similar stories have passed a lot of Çamis people who have had the chance to get in Greece for visiting their homeland.

Attending your response,

Sincerely Yours,

Tahir Muhedini, President of PDI
Amos Dojaka, General Secretary of PDI
Galip Taho, President of PDI’s Tirana branch.
